Good shout! Where exactly would I find the system log? Is that something I can access through the infotainment screen, or am I looking at needing to plug in diagnostics again? Also, is there a specific transmission error code I should be keeping an eye out for?

The system log is typically accessed via an OBD-II scanner; it is not normally available through the infotainment interface. While there isn't one specific error code to watch for, any transmission-related code should be considered relevant. Given the symptoms, I suggest a visit to a qualified workshop for a comprehensive assessment.

Cheers! Took it to the garage, turns out it was indeed a weird pairing issue. They reset the Bluetooth module and re-paired my phone. Cost me 45€, but at least it's sorted! Appreciate the advice.

Have you checked the vehicle's system log for any other concurrent electrical faults? Sometimes a seemingly unrelated issue, perhaps within the ignition system, can trigger unexpected behavior in other modules. Verify the transmission control unit isn't reporting any anomalies either.
