Corsa Camshaft Sensor Fault

Corsa 2007 diesel starting poorly, lost power, engine management light is on. Code reader shows camshaft sensor error. Wiring seems okay, but I'm no expert. Similar issues? Could it be a dodgy connection? It's got about 106k km on the clock.

Camshaft sensor errors on the Corsa often stem from wiring issues. Check the plug and wiring harness very carefully for any signs of damage or corrosion. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the wires from the sensor plug back to the ECU. What error code exactly is the reader showing?

Thanks for the tip! I'll check the wiring more thoroughly with a multimeter. I will have to check which pins are relevant. Any chance you know which pins on the ECU I need to check?

Without the specific error code, pinpointing the exact ECU pins is tricky. However, given the symptoms and the camshaft sensor error, a defective cable or plug connection is highly probable. If the wiring checks out okay, it might be the sensor itself, but I suggest getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop. A faulty sensor can cause engine misfire or stalling.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local garage, and they confirmed it was a dodgy connection to the camshaft sensor, just like you suspected. They cleaned up the contacts and secured the plug. Cost me 95€, but it's running perfectly again now!
