Corsa check engine light and fuel consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Vauxhall Corsa is experiencing a persistent check engine light, increased fuel consumption, and uneven idling. The initial suspicion was a defective knock sensor, but no visible damage was found in the cable and plug connections. After further investigation and a diagnostic at a local shop, the issue was identified as a problem with the knock sensor cable, which was subsequently repaired.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have not tested the resistance directly. What resistance value should I expect from a functioning sensor, approximately?

Unfortunately, I don't know the exact resistance value offhand. Given the symptoms and your initial inspection, it might be prudent to consult a workshop for a proper diagnosis. It is more cost-effective in the long run.

Understood. I appreciate the input. I took it to a local shop. The diagnostic pointed to the knock sensor cable after all. The repair, including parts and labor, totalled 95€. Thank you for your help!

I had similar symptoms on my Corsa. It could be the knock sensor itself failing. Have you checked the sensor's resistance with a multimeter?
