Corsa cooling Restricted

Hi, I have a 2007 Vauxhall Corsa (diesel). I think the cooling grille is restricted. The display shows incorrect temperatures, the check engine light is on, and it takes ages to warm up. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my old Peugeot 307. Same symptoms: engine light, slow warm-up, weird temperature readings. Have you checked the basics, like coolant level and whether the fan is running constantly, even from a cold start? In my case, it wasn't the grille itself, but a faulty sensor messing everything up.

Coolant level is fine. How did you figure out it was the sensor? Was it expensive to fix?

Well, I spent ages looking at the cooling grille and airflow, but a friend who knows more about cars than I do suggested the sensor. A diagnostic check confirmed it. It wasn't bank-breaking, but I'd suggest getting it checked by a professional. Could be a fuse if you're lucky. Otherwise, it's best to take it to a workshop. They will be able to correctly identify the sensor.

Thanks. I took it to a local workshop and it turned out to be a defective fuse causing the issue. They replaced the fuse, and the sensor started working again. Total cost was 52€, so thanks for the tip!
