Corsa diesel particulate filter pressure issue

I own a 2019 Vauxhall Corsa, diesel engine, with 172399 km. I'm experiencing a warning light, reduced engine power, smoke during acceleration, and a strong exhaust smell. Diagnostics indicate the diesel particulate filter exhaust pressure is too low. I suspect a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. Has anyone encountered this?

Sounds familiar! Had similar woes with my old Peugeot 308. Same symptoms – felt like I was driving through treacle, plus the stink was awful. Have you checked the sensor wiring? Mine was partially chewed through by a rodent. Worth a quick look before you dive into replacing parts.

Thanks for the quick reply. You mentioned rodent damage. Was the Peugeot displaying the same 'exhaust pressure too low' error?

Yep, exact same error code. Turned out the damaged wiring was causing intermittent readings, throwing everything off. But honestly, if the wiring looks fine, it's probably the sensor itself. Best get it checked at a workshop; fiddling with emission control stuff can be a real headache.

Understood. I appreciate the advice. The garage confirmed a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. Repair cost 245€. Problem solved.
