Corsa Emergency Call Malfunction

Hi, I've got a 2003 Vauxhall Corsa, petrol engine, with a weird issue. The emergency call system seems to be malfunctioning. I get an error message in the speedometer, and the warning light is on too. The error memory also has something stored. Anyone seen this before? Is this some kind of electrical gremlin? Where do I even start looking?

Possible causes include electrical issues such as low battery voltage or a defective connection. Initial troubleshooting steps include checking the battery and attempting a reset by disconnecting it. Hmm, that's a strange one. An emergency call malfunction on a Corsa of that age? Is the battery in good condition? I've heard low voltage can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems. Also, have you tried just disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to see if that resets anything? It's a long shot, I know, but might be worth a try before diving deeper.

Good shout about the battery, I'll give that a check. But if it's not the battery, where else should I be looking? Could it be a specific module or fuse related to the emergency call system? Is there anything I can test myself before I need to take it to a mechanic?

Right, if the battery is all good, and a reset didn't work either, then yeah, it could definitely be a module or fuse. Honestly, without proper diagnostic tools, it's a bit tricky to pinpoint. Based on your description, my guess is it comes down to a loose connection. I saw exactly your symptoms on a different model and in the end the garage determined that there was a defective cable or plug connection, so I would suggest you go to the workshop. Sometimes it can be difficult, and potentially dangerous, to try and fix it yourself.

Thanks a lot for the help! Battery seems fine, and the reset didn't do anything. I took it to the shop and you were spot on - turns out to be a defective connection. A mere 95€ and now it's perfect again!
