Corsa intake manifold issue

My 2002 Vauxhall Corsa diesel's got me pulling my hair out! Check engine light's on, and it's throwing codes. She's got 188702 km on the clock. The symptoms? Jerking when accelerating, seriously reduced power, rough idle that sometimes stalls, and a stink of exhaust that could knock you off your feet. Feels like a massive engine misfire. I'm thinking it's an air intake issue, maybe the car manifold? Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I've got a Corsa too, and those symptoms scream intake manifold problems. Have you checked for any hissing noises around the manifold area? Scorched spots are a dead giveaway. Those older Corsas were known for manifold leaks.

Hissing, you say? I haven't specifically listened for that, but I did see some gunk buildup and what looked like scorching near where the manifold meets the engine block. Is that definitely a sign of intake manifold failure on these?

The scorching and gunk are highly indicative of a leak, yes. And if you're experiencing rough running and error codes pointing to air intake issues, it all lines up. Whilst you can try and have a look, the best thing would probably be to take it to a workshop.

Appreciate the confirmation. That's the push I needed to bite the bullet and get it sorted. Dropped it at the shop this morning; they confirmed a leaking intake manifold due to scorching. 1180€ is what they quoted me, ouch... Thanks again for the help!
