Thanks for the quick response! I did check the fault codes, and it's pointing towards the air flap electromechanism. You mentioned it's a common problem - is it something that requires immediate attention, or can I drive with it for a short while? I don't want to risk further damage. Did you manage to fix it yourself?

Given that you are experiencing overheating, I would strongly advise against driving it for any significant distance until it's resolved. Continuing to drive with a faulty air flap can lead to more serious engine damage. While some mechanically inclined individuals might attempt a DIY fix, considering the electromechanical nature of the problem, I suggest you consult a trusted workshop. They have the diagnostic tools and expertise to properly address the issue.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The air flap electromechanism was indeed defective. Cost me around 590€ to get it sorted, but at least the overheating is gone and the check engine light is off. Thanks again for your help!

I had a similar issue with my Corsa, though it was a petrol engine. The check engine light and overheating are classic symptoms. Have you checked for any fault codes? It could be the flap motor electromechanism, which is a common problem. Are you experiencing any changes in fuel economy?
