Corsa poor starting stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Vauxhall Corsa with a diesel engine is experiencing poor starting, occasional stalling at idle, and an illuminated check engine light. The issue is suspected to be related to the camshaft sensor, possibly due to a defective encoder wheel on the camshafts causing incorrect sensor readings. The problem was confirmed by a garage, and after replacing the camshaft sensor, the car is running smoothly again.

Camshaft sensor, eh? Where exactly is that located and is it easy to check?

Yeah, that's what it was for me. Turned out the encoder wheel on the camshafts was defective, causing the sensor to give dodgy readings. Honestly, it's a bit fiddly to get to without the right tools. If you're not confident, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! Garage confirmed it was the camshaft sensor. Cost me 695€ to get it sorted but she's running smoothly again now.

Sounds familiar! I've got a Corsa as well, and I had similar issues. Was it throwing any engine misfire codes? Have you checked the camshaft sensor? It could be camshaft position related.
