Thank you for your reply. I will check the gel pad. May I ask what the eventual solution was for your Volvo?

In my case, the bubbles under the gel pad were interfering with the sensor's ability to correctly detect rain. The only solution was replacement of the sensor and gel pad, which required a visit to the workshop. Considering the scope of your problems, I recommend getting your car checked. I would have the error memory read before.

Thank you for the advice. I inspected the gel pad and noticed some imperfections. I visited the workshop and the mechanic determined the rain-light sensor was faulty due to bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield. They replaced the sensor for 62€. The automatic wiping mode, headlight control and speedometer dimming are now functional.

That is quite a list of issues. It does sound like a faulty rain sensor. I had a similar problem with my 2016 Volvo V40 a few years back. The symptoms weren't exactly the same, but the root cause might be. Do you notice any bubbles or imperfections under the gel pad of the windshield where the sensor is located?
