Corsa starting issues
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Vauxhall Corsa with a diesel engine is experiencing starting issues and flickering lights, suggesting a weak battery. A diagnostic indicates low voltage, potentially due to a faulty battery sensor. The battery sensor monitors the battery's health and can cause these symptoms if malfunctioning. Replacing the sensor resolved the issue, confirming it as the root cause.

The battery is only about two years old, so I wouldn't have thought it was that. What exactly does the battery sensor do? And how did you figure out it was that?

The battery sensor, also called a voltage sensor, monitors the battery's health and tells the car's computer if it's charging properly. If it's faulty, it can give the wrong info, leading to these issues. I took mine to a workshop, and they confirmed it with their diagnostic tools. Cost around 315€ to get it sorted.

Okay, that's really helpful. Sounds like I'm best off getting it checked by a proper mechanic then, rather than messing about myself. Thanks for confirming it. I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. New battery sensor and all is good!

Sounds familiar. I've got a Corsa as well. I had similar symptoms – weak starts and the lights dimming. It could well be the battery sensor. These cars are known to have issues with them. How old is your battery?
