Corsa Transmission Issues

Hi, I've got a 2015 Vauxhall Corsa, gasoline engine, and I'm experiencing some pretty nasty transmission issues at 76797 km. The check engine light and transmission indicator are both on. It feels like the gearbox is slipping or shifting really rough, and there's this awful grinding noise sometimes when it shifts. I scanned the error memory, and it's pointing towards a torque converter lock-up clutch defect. Does anyone have any experience with this? Could it really be converter failure?

That sounds rough. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo, although the symptoms manifested a bit differently. The error codes pointed to the torque converter as well. Is the grinding noise constant, or only during specific gear changes? It almost sounds like the converter isn't locking up properly, like a clutch that's not fully engaging.

The grinding is intermittent, mostly when it's shifting between 2nd and 3rd, or sometimes when slowing down. It's not a constant drone. When you say 'similar issue', did it end up actually being the torque converter in your Volvo? What was the final diagnosis?

Yep, in the end it was the torque converter. The symptoms are similar, intermittent grinding, and error codes suggesting the same. Given your mileage and the specific error codes you're getting, it strongly points to a defective converter. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a specialist; continuing to drive it could cause further damage. I ended up having to replace the entire unit; repair was not possible.

Thanks for the insight! I appreciate the confirmation. I took it to a trusted workshop, and they've confirmed your suspicion: automatic transmission converter defective, lock-up clutch problem. Repair cost: 2120€. Ouch! But better to fix it now than risk more damage. Thanks again!
