Summary of the thread
A 2015 Corvette is experiencing an ABS lamp system failure and a lateral acceleration sensor fault code, leading to compromised electronic stability. Just the lateral sensor fault. You think it was the control unit itself on your BMW?

Yep, turned out the control unit was toast. After a lot of head-scratching and testing, the workshop confirmed it. Honestly, with those symptoms, and especially with the stored error, I'd bite the bullet and take it to a decent workshop. Could be a pain to diagnose properly otherwise.

Cheers, I'll do that. Diagnosis confirmed defective control unit. Quoted 1000€ for repair. Thanks for the input.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar electronic stability issue on my old BMW 3 series. Traction control was going nuts, steering angle sensor seemed off too. Was it throwing any other weird codes along with the lateral sensor?
