Corvette Air Intake Leak
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Chevrolet Corvette was experiencing increased fuel consumption, a check engine light, and a loud hissing sound during acceleration, suggesting an air intake leak. The likely cause was identified as a vacuum leak, possibly from a cracked intake hose. The recommended solution was to inspect the intake hoses and, if necessary, perform a smoke test to locate the leak. The issue was resolved by replacing a cracked intake hose, restoring the car's performance.

Thanks! I'll definitely give those hoses a look. I haven't done any work on the turbocharger recently. Is there a way to pinpoint the leak if I can't see any obvious cracks?

If you can't find it visually, a mechanic can do a smoke test to find the leak. Given the symptoms and mileage, a leaking intake hose is probable. It is best to go to the workshop.

Turns out you were spot on! I took it to a shop, and it was a cracked intake hose. Replaced it for around 100€ and the car's running great again. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a vacuum leak for sure. Check all your intake hoses, especially the ones connected to the intake manifold. A cracked hose could cause all those symptoms. Any recent work done near the turbocharger?
