Corvette Reduced Engine Power Chip Tuning
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Chevrolet Corvette experienced reduced engine power and a check engine light, potentially linked to previous performance optimizations. The issue was suspected to be caused by a faulty aftermarket chip tuning. The recommended solution was to have the ECU checked by a reputable workshop, which confirmed the chip tuning as the problem. The resolution involved re-flashing the ECU to remove the faulty tune.

The previous owner mentioned something about 'optimizing' the car's performance. Could a dodgy chip tune really be the culprit?

It's definitely a possibility. Poorly implemented chip tuning can wreak havoc on modern engine management systems. That would be my primary suspect, given the symptoms. I would suggest taking your Corvette to a reputable workshop and ask them to check the ECU.

Turns out the aftermarket chip tuning was indeed the source of the problem. The cost to re-flash the ECU and remove the faulty tune came to 180€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction; I appreciate the advice!

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old BMW. Same symptoms. Did you buy it new? Has the car had any modifications, particularly involving the ECU or chip tuning?
