Countryman Hybrid Engine Stalling

I'm at my wit's end with my 2017 Mini Countryman Hybrid. The check engine light is on, and the error memory indicates a possible bad IAC valve. The main symptom is the engine stalling at idle. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or have any ideas on where to start?

Engine stalling on a hybrid Countryman, huh? The check engine light and error code definitely point to an issue. The idle air control valve could be the culprit, but it's tough to say for sure without looking at it. Have you noticed if it only happens when the engine is cold, or does it stall even when it's warmed up?

Thanks for the quick response! It seems to stall more often when the engine is cold, but it has happened a couple of times after driving for a while too. Is there anything specific I should check before taking it to a workshop?

Okay, stalling when cold and sometimes when warm does lean toward the IAC valve. It's possible it's just dirty or sticking. Honestly, unless you're comfortable working on engines, cleaning the intake and IAC valve on a modern car can be tricky. You could try checking for any obvious vacuum leaks around the intake manifold, but if you're not sure what you're looking for, it's probably best to take it to a trusted mechanic. They can properly diagnose the issue and make sure everything is running smoothly. Best of luck with the stalling engine!

Just wanted to give an update. Took the Countryman to a mechanic, and it turned out the intake was heavily contaminated, causing the IAC valve to malfunction. They cleaned everything up, replaced the air valve, and now it runs like new. Cost me 425€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
