Countryman Hybrid Parking Brake Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Mini Countryman Hybrid developed a fault with the electronic parking brake, rendering it non-functional and triggering a warning light. The error memory indicated a defective electric motor in the brake caliper as the cause. The suggested solution was to have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop, which confirmed the issue and resolved it by replacing the faulty motor.

Thanks for the quick response! I did check the error memory, and it points toward a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. Is that what happened in your case too? And where is the brake switch located? I'd like to have a look at it.

Yes, the error code pointed to the electric motor in the caliper. I wouldn't recommend further diagnosis yourself; it's best to take it to a workshop.

Just wanted to give you an update. Turns out you were spot on. Took my Countryman to the workshop, and it was exactly as you described: the electric motor in the brake caliper had given up the ghost. Cost me 505€ to get it sorted, but at least it's fixed. Thanks again for your help!

I had a similar issue with my Countryman. The parking brake warning light was on and the brake wouldn't engage. Have you checked the brake switch? Also, did you read the error codes with an OBD reader? That could give you a clue.
