CR V Hybrid Stalling After Fuel Filter Change
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid experienced stalling at idle and a drop in engine power after a fuel filter change, with the check engine light activated. The suspected cause was a faulty fuel pressure regulator, potentially due to an error entry following the filter replacement. The solution involved checking fuel pressure sensor readings using an OBD2 reader, confirming the regulator issue, and resolving it at a workshop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the fuel pressure sensor readings directly. I'm not sure how to do that, do I need a special tool? Is this something a regular OBD2 reader would show?

Yes, you'll need an OBD2 reader that can display live data. Check the fuel rail pressure readings, both at idle and under load. If the pressure is erratic or significantly lower than the specified range, it's a strong indication of a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Considering you just changed the fuel filter, it's also worth double-checking all the connections. If in doubt, it would be a good idea to visit a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop and it turned out to be exactly as you suspected. Fuel pressure regulator was defective, error entry after changing the fuel filter. Repair cost was 45€. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my CR-V, though it wasn't the hybrid version. The check engine light and reduced power sound very familiar. Have you checked the fuel pressure sensor readings? A faulty regulator could definitely throw off the fuel system's pressure.
