CR V start stop issue
Summary of the thread
The 2007 Honda CR-V diesel experienced a start-stop system failure, accompanied by an error message and engine shutdown. The issue was suspected to be related to the starter motor, but no unusual noises were present. A suggestion was made that a weak or old battery could be the cause, as the start-stop system is sensitive to voltage levels. After testing at a workshop, it was confirmed that the battery was heavily discharged and defective, and replacing it resolved the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! I am not sure how old the battery is, I would have to check. But even with a weak battery, should the engine stall like that? Is there a way I can test the battery myself?

Yes, a weak battery can definitely cause the engine to stall with the start-stop system. The system needs a healthy battery to restart the engine quickly and reliably. Honestly, testing it yourself can be tricky unless you have the right equipment. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get the battery properly tested. That's what I ended up doing, and they confirmed it was the battery.

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop and they said the battery was heavily discharged and defective, just like you guessed. New battery cost me 290€, and now everything is working perfectly again!

I had something similar happen with my CR-V. I'd bet it's your car battery. The start-stop is super sensitive to voltage. If the battery is even slightly weak, it throws a fit. How old is your battery?
