CR V Transmission Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Honda CR-V is experiencing transmission issues, including strange shifting, slipping, and hesitating between gears, with the transmission indicator light occasionally activating. Possible causes include low or worn-out transmission fluid and potential undervoltage in the vehicle. The suggested solution is to have the transmission fluid checked and possibly replaced, which was confirmed by a workshop that identified worn-out transmission oil as the issue and replaced it, potentially resolving the problem.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't checked the fluid level myself; honestly, I'm not even sure where to find the dipstick for the transmission on this model. I was hoping it was something simple. Is it possible that low fluid could cause all these problems, or is it more likely to be something serious?

Yeah, low fluid could cause those issues, but honestly, with those symptoms, it's probably more than just a top-up. With my Astra, it turned out the transmission oil was just worn out. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop and having them check it out. It might need a transmission flush or, worst case, some more serious repair. Better to be safe than sorry!

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed that the automatic transmission oil was worn out and also said the undervoltage in the vehicle may be the reason. They replaced the oil and the final repair cost was 240€. Hopefully, that will solve the problem. Appreciate your help!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, although it was a different brand. The symptoms sound familiar. Does it feel like it's struggling to find the right gear? My mechanic suspected it was a transmission issue. Have you checked the transmission fluid level or condition? It might be worth a look, although I'm no expert.
