CR Z starting trouble
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Honda CR-Z hybrid was experiencing starting issues, with the engine cranking but not firing up. The diagnostic scan revealed an error related to an interruption in the terminal 15 ignition positive. Possible causes included a loose connection, defective cable, or faulty relay switch. The suggested solutions involved inspecting the ignition switch, wiring harness, and relay switch for damage or corrosion. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by cleaning a corroded connector on the wiring harness, restoring proper function.

Thanks for the detailed reply! When you say 'relay switch', are you referring to a specific relay in the fuse box, or is it something located closer to the ignition switch itself? And is there a simple way to test the ignition switch, or is it best left to a professional?

Concerning the relay switch, refer to your vehicle's wiring diagram to pinpoint the precise relay responsible for the ignition circuit. Typically, these are located within the main fuse box, although specific placement may vary. Regarding the ignition switch, a comprehensive test necessitates specialized tools to assess its electrical continuity across various positions. Given the intricacies of the system and potential for misdiagnosis, a visit to a qualified workshop may be prudent. The estimated repair cost is about 95€. This will ensure accurate identification and rectification of the fault.

Thanks a lot for the advice, I really appreciate it. I ended up taking it to a local garage. As you suspected, it was a corroded connector on the wiring harness going to the ignition switch. They cleaned it up, tested everything, and it's running perfectly now. Thanks again!

Greetings. Based on the error code and symptoms you described, the 'terminal 15 ignition positive interrupted' fault suggests a break in the power supply to the ignition system. This could indeed stem from a defective cable or plug connection, as the diagnostic information indicates. Have you inspected the ignition switch and its associated wiring harness for any signs of damage or corrosion? Additionally, examine the relay switch responsible for supplying power to the ignition system. A faulty relay could also cause this intermittent interruption.
