Crankshaft Camshaft Reference Value Issue on AMG GT

My 2023 Mercedes AMG GT hybrid engine is throwing a check engine light and getting codes related to crankshaft to camshaft reference value The car has 72915 km on it and I am experiencing reduced engine power, laggy throttle response, and worse fuel consumption Is replacing the crank sensor enough or am I missing something

Summary of the thread

The 2023 Mercedes AMG GT hybrid engine was experiencing a check engine light with codes related to crankshaft to camshaft reference value, leading to reduced engine power, laggy throttle response, and worse fuel consumption. The issue was identified as likely being caused by a faulty crankshaft position sensor, supported by diagnostic trouble codes P0335 and P0016. After replacing the crankshaft position sensor, the problem was resolved, restoring normal engine performance and improving fuel consumption.

A discrepancy between the crankshaft and camshaft reference value indeed points towards a potential issue with engine synchronization Think of it like a conductor and their orchestra; if the timing is off, the performance suffers Have you checked the wiring and connectors to both the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors A loose connection or damaged wire could also trigger those symptoms What diagnostic trouble codes are you seeing specifically

I did a quick visual inspection of the wiring, but didn't see anything obvious I'm getting P0335 and P0016 codes Should I be focusing on the crank sensor wiring more closely, or is it more likely the sensor itself is faulty

Given those DTCs, P0335 indicating a crankshaft position sensor "A" circuit malfunction and P0016 pointing towards crankshaft position – camshaft position correlation (Bank 1), it reinforces the likelihood of a faulty crank sensor disrupting the engine synchronization While a thorough wiring inspection is always advisable, the sensor itself is the prime suspect Replacing the crankshaft sensor is a reasonable next step, but I would advise getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop, as there might be other underlying issues

I replaced the crankshaft position sensor, and that seems to have solved the problem Check engine light is gone, power is back to normal, and fuel consumption is improving Total cost was around 340€ for the sensor and labor I appreciate the help
