Creta electrical errors

Hey, I've got a 2020 Hyundai Creta diesel with 152k km that's throwing up some weird errors. I'm getting an error stored in the memory, the gear selection display in the speedometer isn't working, cruise control is dead, and sometimes the engine just refuses to start. My scanner points to a possible dodgy clutch pedal switch, maybe a defective cable or plug. Anyone else seen this?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Hyundai Creta diesel with 152k km is experiencing electrical errors, including a non-functional gear selection display, inoperative cruise control, and intermittent engine starting issues. The problem is suspected to be related to a faulty clutch pedal switch or defective wiring. The suggested solution is to inspect and possibly replace the clutch pedal switch and check the wiring harness for damage or corrosion. After taking the vehicle to a workshop, the faulty switch and bad connection were confirmed and repaired, resolving the issues.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my old Vauxhall Astra. The engine wouldn't start intermittently, and it turned out to be a faulty clutch pedal position sensor. Basically, the ECU wasn't getting the signal that the clutch was depressed, so it wouldn't allow the starter to engage. Have you checked the wiring harness and connector for any signs of damage or corrosion? A multimeter would be handy to check for continuity.

Interesting, thanks for that info! I'll check the wiring harness, but can you tell me exactly which pins on the connector I should be testing, and what kind of readings I should expect to see? I'm not sure where to find that info.

Unfortunately, I don't recall the specific pinouts for the Astra, and they'll likely be different for your Creta. However, given that you have multiple symptoms pointing to the switch, and you've already scanned a fault code related to it, I would suggest visiting a workshop. They will check the switch itself, and the whole wire from the switch to the ECU. It will probably save you time and ensure the problem is properly diagnosed. A short circuit can be worse to debug than expected.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop as you suggested, and they confirmed it was a faulty clutch pedal switch and a bad connection. They replaced the switch and fixed the wiring for 95€. Everything's working perfectly now!
