Creta Turbo Issue

I have a 2015 Hyundai Creta with a gasoline engine and about 89,500 km on it. Lately, the check engine light keeps popping on, and the power feels way down. Engine response is sluggish, and I'm hearing this weird whistling noise, almost like a loud hissing when I try to accelerate. Sometimes it even stalls at idle, and my fuel consumption has definitely gone up. I've been reading online about boost leaks. Could this be related to the turbo system? Anyone else experienced something similar with their Creta?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Hyundai Creta owner reported issues with the check engine light, reduced power, sluggish engine response, a whistling noise during acceleration, stalling at idle, and increased fuel consumption. These symptoms suggested a potential problem with the turbo system, possibly a boost leak. Another owner with similar experiences recommended checking the turbo hoses and ultimately advised consulting a professional. The issue was diagnosed as a defective electrical bypass valve linked to the boost pressure actuator, which was resolved by a mechanic, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I have a Creta too, and I had similar symptoms a while back - check engine light, power loss, weird noises. Did you check for any obvious signs of damage to the turbo hoses?

I did a quick visual inspection, but didn't spot anything obvious. Where should I be looking specifically? What was the ultimate cause of your issues?

Mine ended up being a defective electrical bypass valve linked to the boost pressure actuator. Honestly, I couldn't diagnose it myself. I took it to a workshop, and they sorted it out pretty quickly. I'd recommend doing the same; it's not worth messing with the turbo system yourself if you're not 100% sure what you're doing.

Thanks for the tip! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took it to my local mechanic, and it was indeed the boost pressure actuator. The electrical bypass valve was busted just as you suggested. Cost me about 250€ to get it fixed, but the car is running like new again!
