Crew Sluggish Start and Flickering Lights
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Nissan Crew with a diesel engine was experiencing sluggish starts and flickering lights, suggesting potential battery issues. The problem was suspected to be caused by a faulty battery sensor, which might have been giving incorrect readings and preventing proper battery charging. After conducting vehicle diagnostics, it was confirmed that the battery sensor was defective. Replacing the sensor resolved the issue, leading to improved vehicle performance.

Thanks! When you say 'properly tested,' do you mean a simple voltage check, or something more involved? Did you replace the battery, the sensor, or both when you experienced that?

More involved. A load test is essential; a voltage check only tells part of the story. The battery might show 12V, but collapse under load. I suggest having vehicle diagnostics done to determine what is faulty before buying new components. In my case, the sensor was not working.

Took your advice and had the diagnostics done. The battery sensor was indeed defective! A new sensor was fitted, and the Crew is starting like a dream. Total cost: 315€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I had similar issues with my Crew: weak starts and spooky lights. Have you had the battery properly tested? A failing cell can cause havoc, but a bad sensor will also prevent proper charging. You might want to test if your battery charge is low.
