Crider Engine Overheating

I'm having trouble with my 2023 Honda Crider hybrid. It's got about 180,409 km on the clock. Lately, I've noticed the engine overheating, and it's also taking a really long time to warm up. I've checked the coolant level, and it seems fine. Could it be the thermostat?

Summary of the thread

The 2023 Honda Crider hybrid is experiencing engine overheating and delayed warm-up times despite normal coolant levels. A potential cause could be a defective thermostat, as indicated by excessive cooling fan operation and minor temperature gauge fluctuations. It is suggested to have a qualified mechanic inspect the thermostat and the entire cooling system, including the temperature sensor and thermostat housing, to address these issues effectively.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my Honda Crider. It sounds like it could very well be the thermostat. Has the cooling fan been running excessively, even on short trips? And have you noticed any unusual temperature fluctuations on your dashboard gauge?

Yes, the cooling fan does seem to be running more than usual. The temperature gauge sometimes fluctuates a bit, but not dramatically. What exactly was the problem with your Crider, and how did you fix it?

In my case, the map thermostat was defective, which is quite common, I've learned. This caused similar symptoms – overheating and delayed warm-up times. Based on your description and my experience, I highly recommend having a qualified mechanic inspect the thermostat and the entire cooling system, including the temperature sensor and thermostat housing. A defective map thermostat often leads to these symptoms. I went to the workshop and they ended up charging me 350€

Thanks for the advice! I'll take it to a trusted workshop. Your experience gives me a good starting point for explaining the problem. Hopefully, it will be a straightforward fix!
