Crider Hybrid Undervoltage Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Honda Crider hybrid with high mileage is experiencing starting issues, flickering lights, and a weak battery, accompanied by an Undervoltage code. The core problem is likely a heavily discharged or defective battery. Possible causes include a faulty battery, voltage regulator, or alternator issues. Suggested solutions involve checking the battery voltage and alternator output, with a recommendation to consult a certified mechanic for accurate diagnosis and repair. The issue was resolved by replacing the degraded battery.

Thanks for the tip! When you say 'check the alternator output,' what exactly am I looking for? Is there a specific voltage reading that indicates a problem? I want to make sure I'm testing it correctly before I start tearing things apart.

You need to assess if the alternator is producing the rated amps. The correct output should be around 13.5 to 14.5 volts when the engine is running. If it's outside this range, the alternator is failing. But given the symptoms, the best strategy would be to take your Honda to a certified mechanic. It could be a faulty cell. Consider that battery health degrades substantially in these hybrid vehicles under high mileage.

Appreciate the detailed advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were right – the battery was heavily degraded and needed replacing. All sorted now for 290€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar undervoltage problem with my old BMW 3 series. Those symptoms point towards a heavily discharged or defective battery. Check your battery voltage with a multimeter ASAP. Also, the voltage regulator and the charging system might be involved. It's worth testing the alternator output to rule out charging issues.
