Crider spongy brake pedal

Alright, car gurus, lend me your ears! My 2017 Honda Crider, gasoline engine, is acting up. I've noticed the brake fluid is low, and the brake pedal feels... spongy, like I'm stepping on a marshmallow! Any ideas? I'm kinda freaking out!

Summary of the thread

The 2017 Honda Crider exhibited a spongy brake pedal and low brake fluid, raising safety concerns. Possible causes included worn brake pads or an undetected leak. A brake inspection was advised to prevent further issues. The problem was resolved by replacing the brake pads and performing a fluid flush, restoring safe braking functionality.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, spongy brake pedal and low fluid? That's not good. How many kilometers are on the car? Have you checked for any visible leaks around the wheels or the master cylinder? Any brake warning lights on?

Yeah, tell me about it! It feels super unsafe. The car has 116748 km on it. I took a peek, didn't see any puddles, but I'm no expert at spotting brake lines. Plus, the warning light is on and off, but how can I be sure that the master cylinder is fine?

Okay, with that mileage and the symptoms you're describing, it sounds like worn brake pads could be the culprit, causing the fluid level to drop as the calipers extend further. It could also be more serious, like a leak you missed. A brake inspection is in order before it gets worse and costs even more. You better go to the workshop ASAP, and have them check those car brakes!

Thanks a million! Took your advice, brought her in. Turns out the brake pads were shot, just like you suspected! New pads and a fluid flush set me back 480€, but at least I can stop safely now! Appreciate the help!
