Croma ABS Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Fiat Croma diesel exhibited a speed signal fault, with symptoms including an illuminated ABS lamp, erratic traction control, and occasional ABS failure. The initial suspicion was a faulty control unit. Another individual suggested checking the ABS sensor, as discrepancies between the speedometer and odometer readings could indicate sensor or control unit issues. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a faulty control unit, which was then repaired.

Thanks, that's good to know. I haven't checked the speedometer/odometer against the ABS sensor. Can you explain what you mean by that and what the relationship should be?

The ABS sensors feed speed info to the ABS, speedometer, and odometer. If the ABS reports a different speed than the speedometer shows, or the odometer isn't counting distance right, that could mean a bad sensor or control unit issue. I'd get it to a shop. My repair ended up costing 1000€.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. I took it to a shop like you said. Turns out the control unit was bad, just like I thought. Got it fixed.

I had something similar with my Croma. Sounds like what happened when my ABS sensor went bad. Did you check if the speedometer and odometer match what the sensor is reporting?
