Croma Overvoltage Problems
Summary of the thread
The 2009 Fiat Croma is experiencing overvoltage issues, leading to multiple system failures and difficulty starting due to a weak battery. Possible causes include a defective or heavily discharged battery and a faulty voltage regulator. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a workshop to diagnose and resolve the battery and charging system issues.

Thank you for your reply. The battery is relatively new, approximately one year old. Could a defective battery cause such overvoltage issues, or should I be looking at other components like the voltage regulator?

A one-year-old battery shouldn't be causing this, but hey, lemons happen. A defective battery can screw with the voltage and trigger those errors, especially if it has an internal short. But yeah, the voltage regulator is a prime suspect too. It's supposed to keep the voltage steady, and if it fails, you can get overvoltage situations that fry everything. Honestly, with so many errors, I'd get it checked by a workshop. They can properly diagnose the battery and charging system.

I appreciate your insights. I will take your advice and have the vehicle inspected by a workshop. The battery was indeed the issue, heavily discharged or defective. Repair cost was 290€.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had similar electrical gremlins in my Croma, though I can't recall the exact year model. Lots of weird errors popping up, systems acting haywire. Did you check the battery? Overvoltage can happen when the battery's on its way out or heavily discharged. The car's electronics get all sorts of confused when the voltage isn't stable. Is your battery old?
