Croma transmission fault
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Fiat Croma diesel is experiencing transmission issues, including an illuminated engine warning light and error codes related to the transmission oil pressure sensor. Symptoms include the gearbox entering emergency mode, slipping, rough shifting, and grinding noises. Potential causes could be a low gearbox oil level or a faulty pressure sensor. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified workshop to diagnose and resolve the issue, which in this case was resolved by replacing the faulty sensor and changing the oil.

Checking the oil level is a good idea but how exactly do I check the transmission oil level? Is it something I can do myself, or would I need special equipment?

While checking the oil level can provide insight, attempting it yourself without proper knowledge could lead to further complications. Given the symptoms you described, I suggest having the vehicle inspected by a qualified workshop. It is possible that the pressure sensor is faulty, but without proper diagnostics, one can only speculate.

Okay, I understand. I'll take your advice and bring it to a workshop for a proper inspection. It was a faulty oil pressure sensor. They changed the sensor and the oil, which cost me 365€ Thanks for your help!

These symptoms are concerning. I encountered similar issues with my Volvo V70 some time ago. Illumination of the engine warning light, shifting problems, and error codes related to the transmission are definitely pointing towards a potential transmission fault. Did you check the oil level?
