Cronos Headlight Range Control Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Fiat Cronos owner experienced a persistent headlight range control fault, indicated by a warning light and improper beam projection. Initial checks of connectors and the headlight switch were inconclusive, leading to suspicion of a defective servomotor. After consulting a technician, the servomotor was confirmed as faulty, replaced, and recalibrated, resolving the issue.

I haven't examined the physical linkage of the servomotor to the headlight reflector closely enough. Can you elaborate on how to inspect this linkage, and are special tools needed?

It's delicate work. You'll likely need to remove the headlight assembly for a proper look. The linkage is usually a small plastic arm connected to the reflector. Check for any play, breakage, or disconnection. No special tools needed, just good lighting and maybe a small mirror. If that all seems fine, and the error is still there, a faulty servomotor is probable. Like a fuse blowing due to a short circuit, the motor is likely defective. Honestly, a workshop visit might be the best bet to properly diagnose the system.

Based on your advice, I consulted a technician. They confirmed a defective servomotor. The total repair cost was 1040€, including replacement and recalibration. The issue is resolved.

Sounds tricky. The auto-leveling system can be sensitive. Have you checked the physical linkage of the servomotor to the headlight reflector? Sometimes those can get gummed up or even pop off. It's like a tiny ball and socket joint in there. Does it happen on both headlights or just one?
