Crossfire Brake Light Switch Failure Fix Needed

Need advice, brake light switch problem on 06 Crossfire gas. Getting error messages for brake light failure in both error memory and infotainment system. Has anyone experienced similar issues with the brake light switch on these cars? Car runs fine otherwise, but concerned about the brake system reliability. Currently at 174000km and wondering if this is a common problem. Looking for repair cost estimates and trustworthy mechanic experiences, as my last shop visit was disappointing. Thanks for any input.

Had the same issue on my 03 Chrysler Sebring last summer. The brake light switch malfunction triggered similar warning messages. The automotive switch that monitors brake pedal movement was failing intermittently, causing the tail light and brake light system to report errors. The root cause was a worn brake switch that no longer made proper contact when pressing the brake pedal. This is actually a common wear item on these models after 150000km. While the car remains driveable, its a safety concern since other drivers cant see your brake lights activating. The repair involved replacing the brake switch assembly behind the brake pedal. Not a complex job, but accessing the switch location requires careful handling of surrounding components. A certified shop should complete this repair since it directly affects brake light function and safety systems. My repair experience was straightforward once diagnosed correctly. Would recommend having it fixed soon, as faulty brake lights can lead to rear-end collisions. The part itself is readily available through most auto parts suppliers. This isnt a major mechanical issue, but definitely requires attention for safety compliance and proper brake light operation.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Dealing with the same brake light switch problem on my Crossfire now, and the error messages are exactly as you described. After reading about your vehicle safety fix, I feel more confident about getting it repaired. Since electrical issues like this can cascade into bigger problems, I plan to address it soon. Could you share how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also curious if youve had any recurring brake light or electrical issues since the switch replacement?

Just got back from having this checked at the shop and can actually share some good news. For my Chrysler Sebring, it turned out there was no actual brake light switch failure. The brake pedal switch just needed a simple readjustment, it was a personal error situation that did not require any parts replacement. The mechanic showed me that the brake light switch was working perfectly after adjusting its position relative to the brake pedal. All error messages cleared up immediately. Since the fix, the brake system has been working flawlessly with no recurring electrical issues or warning lights. The best part was the repair cost, absolutely nothing since it was just a minor adjustment. No need for parts or complex labor. However, its still important to get these brake light issues checked promptly since proper brake light function is critical for safe driving. For reference, if your Crossfire actually needs a new brake switch, the repair would typically cost between 80€-150€ including parts and labor. But definitely have it checked first, you might get lucky like I did with a simple no-cost adjustment.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I took my Crossfire to a certified shop yesterday after reading these responses. The mechanic found it was indeed a faulty brake light switch causing the electrical issue. Total repair cost came to 120€ including parts and labor, right in the range mentioned. The replacement process took about an hour. The technician showed me the worn switch after removing it, explaining how these components naturally degrade over time. Since the switch replacement, all error messages have cleared and the brake lights are working perfectly again. Really glad I got this fixed promptly instead of ignoring the warning signs. The brake system feels more responsive now, and its reassuring to know other drivers can see when Im stopping. No more error messages in the display either.
