Crossfire Door Lock Failure, Fix Tips & Cost Guide

Looking for advice on my 2005 Crossfire door lock issue. Central locking system suddenly stopped working completely. Neither key fob nor manual locking works anymore. The door sensor light on the dash stays on constantly. Had some questionable repairs at my last mechanic visit, so not eager to go back. Car has about 173000 km on the clock and runs on gas. Has anyone dealt with similar automatic locks issues? Would be great to hear experiences about repair costs and what exactly needed fixing, wondering if its just a faulty door switch or something more serious.

Last month had a similar central locking failure on a 2008 Chrysler 300C. The car sensor system kept showing the door ajar warning, and the vehicle doors refused to lock either with the key fob or manually. The root cause turned out to be corroded wiring connections in the door latch mechanism. The car alarm would out of nowhere trigger due to faulty electrical signals from the compromised wiring. After thorough diagnosis, we found multiple electrical issues: Main door latch wiring harness had severe corrosion, Front door control module connection was loose, Door lock actuator needed replacement The repair involved: Replacing the complete door wiring harness, Installing new door latch assemblies, Reprogramming the central locking system This was definitely a serious repair job requiring specialized diagnostic equipment. These electrical issues often start small but can escalate to complete system failure if left unchecked. The door sensor problems typically indicate deeper wiring concerns rather than just a faulty switch. Consider having it checked by a certified automotive electrician who can properly diagnose the central locking system.

Thanks for sharing those details about your 300C repair. My Crossfire has been showing the exact same symptoms with the door sensor light and central locking issues. Been wondering if the door latch wiring in my car might also be corroded since the problems sound identical. Would you mind sharing what the total cost was for your repair? Also curious if youve had any recurring electrical issues since getting it fixed?

Good news on the repair front, took my 300C to a certified mechanic and the door contact signal issue was resolved completely. The problem turned out to be simpler than initially feared. They found a loose cable connection at the door switch, which was causing the faulty electrical signals. The repair cost came to 95€ total, much less than expected for an automatic locks problem. Since fixing that compromised connection, all vehicle doors are working perfectly. The door sensor light no longer stays on, and the central locking system functions as intended. No recurring electrical issues whatsoever in the months since the repair. Based on the identical symptoms you described with your Crossfire, there is a good chance you are dealing with a similar wiring connection problem rather than a complete system failure. Would strongly recommend getting it checked, these electrical issues can be fairly straightforward fixes when caught early.

After reading about that 300C repair, I decided to bite the bullet and take my Crossfire to a different mechanic. Really glad I did, turns out the problem was similar but even simpler than expected. The technician found that water had gotten into the driver side door switch, causing corrosion and messing with the wiring harness connections. No need for a complete system overhaul. They cleaned the contacts, replaced one damaged wire, and realigned the door sensor. Total cost was 140€ for parts and labor. The automatic locks now work perfectly again, both with the key fob and manually. The annoying door sensor light finally turned off too. Did not need any fancy reprogramming or major wiring replacement. Definitely learned my lesson about getting these electrical issues checked out quickly before they can develop into bigger problems. The repair was much more affordable than I had feared based on my previous mechanic experiences.
