Crossland X cooling grille malfunction

Hello, I own a 2017 Vauxhall Crossland X with a gasoline engine. Recently, the display shows incorrect temperatures, the check engine light is on, and the engine takes longer to reach operating temperature. I suspect the cooling grille might be restricted. Could this be the cause, and is there a fuse related to the grille's operation that might be defective?

I also own a Crossland X. Your symptoms sound similar to an issue I encountered. The engine taking longer to warm up, combined with temperature reading issues, points towards the cooling system. When you say restricted cooling grille, do you mean there's a physical blockage preventing airflow through the radiator?

Yes, that is correct. I am wondering if there is an electrical element to the grille that opens/closes it, or a fuse that might be linked to the cooling grille. I have visually inspected the radiator and there is no obvious blockage so I am wondering whether the grille might not be opening properly.

I understand. My Crossland X does not have a fuse related to the grille's operation, so I don't know if yours does. Given that you've inspected the radiator and found no blockages and you are having electrical issues, I recommend getting it checked out by a workshop. They can perform a thorough diagnosis of the cooling system, including any electrical components and the thermostat.

Understood, thank you. It turned out that the cooling grille was indeed the problem. After a diagnostic check and replacement of a faulty component, the total repair cost was 52€. The temperature readings are now accurate, the check engine light is off, and the engine is now performing as expected.
