Crossland X DPF and Exhaust Pressure
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Vauxhall Crossland X diesel with 66,000 km experienced reduced engine power, smoke during acceleration, and a strong exhaust smell, likely due to DPF issues. The problem was suspected to be related to low pressure in the exhaust system, potentially caused by a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. A workshop confirmed the issue, and replacing the sensor resolved the problems, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Thanks for the quick reply! How would I check the exhaust back pressure sensor? Is that something I can do myself, or do I need special equipment?

Checking the sensor usually requires a diagnostic tool to read the pressure values. Given the symptoms – low pressure, smoke, and reduced power – a defective exhaust back pressure sensor is a likely cause. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to confirm and avoid further damage.

Thanks! I took your advice and got it checked at a workshop. Turns out it was the exhaust back pressure sensor. Replaced it, and everything's running smoothly now. The whole repair cost around 245€, but it was worth it to get rid of the issues!

Sounds like it could be a DPF issue. Is the car attempting DPF regeneration? Have you checked the exhaust back pressure sensor?
