Crossland X Fog Sensor Faults

I'm experiencing an issue with the fog sensor on my 2018 Vauxhall Crossland X, gasoline engine, with 161999 km. The error memory stores a fault, the air conditioning system doesn't engage, the spray nozzles are frozen even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heating is non-functional. Could this be related to a defective cable or plug connection as I suspect?

Whoa, that's a bizarre combo of issues! Frozen spray nozzles AND mirror heating not working plus the AC? Sounds like more than just a simple fog sensor. Have you checked the fuses? A bad ground could also cause some seriously weird electrical gremlins. Is the dashboard warning light on constantly, or is it intermittent?

Thank you for your reply. I did check the fuses, and they appear to be in order. The dashboard warning light is on constantly. Could you elaborate on how a bad ground might specifically affect these systems?

Okay, constant light and fuses are good, that does lean towards a grounding issue or a wiring harness problem. A bad ground can cause voltage drops and weird feedback loops in the system. Basically, the fog sensor signal might be getting corrupted, which then screws with the climate control module. Given the AC, mirror heating and spray nozzles are all affected I would stop guessing now and get a professional to check the central electrics, specifically the fog sensor wiring. It could be something simple, but those electrical issues can be a nightmare to trace. Better safe than sorry and potentially damaging other components.

Understood. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I will take it to a workshop for a thorough electrical diagnosis. Repair cost came to 95€ and it was indeed the cable connection.
