Crossland X knock sensor issue

I'm experiencing a problem with my 2020 Vauxhall Crossland X, gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and I've observed increased fuel consumption and uneven idling. The car has 126041 km. Diagnostics point to a defective knock sensor. I suspect a damaged cable or plug connection. Any advice would be appreciated before I proceed.

Oh, that sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Crossland X. The check engine light was driving me nuts, and my fuel economy tanked. Rough idle too. Did you check the sensor wiring? Sometimes it's just a loose connection or corrosion messing things up.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I inspected the wiring and connectors visually. I didn't detect any obvious damage, but I will re-inspect for corrosion more thoroughly. Did your issue definitively turn out to be the knock sensor itself?

It sure did. After chasing a few other possibilities, my mechanic confirmed it was the knock sensor. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and replace the sensor if needed. I ended up paying around 100€ for parts and labor, and the problem vanished instantly.

I appreciate the information. I re-examined the wiring and found a small crack in the insulation, almost invisible. I took it to the workshop; they replaced the knock sensor and repaired the wire for 95€. The symptoms are now gone. Thank you again for your help.
