Overdue, yes, by a bit, I admit. But engine damage already? Really? And the oil type... Well, I used what the shop recommended last time. Additives? Never. What sort of damage are we talking about?

With the Renault, the oil sludge blocked the oil pump, leading to insufficient lubrication. It's best to have a workshop check the oil for contamination and assess potential damage. Delaying could make things worse; better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a garage, and you were right. Oil contamination because I exceeded the maintenance interval. Cost me 165€ for an oil change and system check. Appreciate the help!

I had similar symptoms with my Renault Megane, and it turned out to be oil sludge due to an exceeded maintenance interval. Was the oil change overdue perhaps? If so, this could, unfortunately, lead to engine damage. Did you use the correct oil type during the last change, and did you add any oil additives?
