Crossland X oil pump failure

I've got a 2018 Vauxhall Crossland X diesel with 131757 km on the clock. Recently the oil pressure warning lamp has been lighting up, and there's a loud mechanical noise coming from the engine. Could this be pointing to a defect in the oil pump? Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds familiar. I've a Crossland X too. When was the last time you had an oil change? Have you checked the oil pressure gauge readings or noticed any oil leakage?

Oil change was about 8000 km ago. I haven't checked the oil pressure gauge specifically, and I haven't spotted any obvious leaks. Is there a particular oil pressure reading I should be looking for? What was your experience?

Okay, 8000 km should be fine. I had similar symptoms and also ruled out the usual suspects. Eventually, it turned out to be worn engine bearings due to low oil pressure, likely caused by the oil pump failing. It's a nasty job. Did you consider going to the workshop?

Thanks. I took it to a local workshop. You were spot on - the oil pump was faulty, which damaged the engine bearings. Got it repaired, cost me 755€ Appreciate the advice!
