Crossland X power steering fault

My 2017 Vauxhall Crossland X diesel (119536 km) has an intermittent power steering fault. The steering wheel vibrates, handling feels spongy, and there's increased steering effort. I've checked the hydraulic fluid. Could a defective cable or plug cause this?

I had similar issues with my Crossland X. Check the cable and plug connections to the power steering. Seems like a common issue.

Thanks! Which specific cable or plug connections should I inspect? What signs of damage or corrosion should I look for? Any diagnostic steps?

Yeah, it was the connection near the motor itself. I didn't mess with it. Took it to the workshop because I'm not a mechanic. They sorted it quickly, so best go see a professional.

Thanks for the guidance! The workshop found a defective cable connection to the power steering component, just as you suspected. The repair cost 95€, and the power steering is now working perfectly.
