Crossland X rough gearbox shifting

I have a Vauxhall Crossland (not sure about the year), and I had similar symptoms. Gear grinding, unclean shifts... It turned out to be a transfer case oil wear fault. Have you checked your transfer case oil? If it has a metallic sheen, that's not a good sign.

When you say 'transfer case oil wear fault,' do you mean the oil itself was just old and worn out, or was there actually something wrong inside the transfer case causing the wear? Also, how did you diagnose it? Did you just drain the oil and look at it, or did you need special equipment?

In my case, the oil analysis indicated excessive wear, specifically metal particles. The root cause was determined to be defective gears within the transfer case itself. While an oil change might provide temporary relief, the underlying issue will persist. A workshop visit is advisable for proper diagnostics and repair.

Thanks a million for the info! That confirms my fears, but at least I have a direction now. I took it to a mechanic, he confirmed that the transfer case was the issue and the defective gears were causing the oil to wear out very quick. Quoted me 330€ for the repair. Thanks again!
