Crossland X temperature sensor fault

I've got a 2022 Vauxhall Crossland X, gasoline engine, with 155k km. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed a reduction in engine power. There's also a whistling noise, turning into a loud hissing when I accelerate. My OBD reader shows a charge air temperature sensor error. I've read it could be a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their Crossland X?

I had a similar issue with my Crossland X. Same symptoms – check engine light, power loss, and a weird whistling sound. The error code pointed to the temperature sensor as well. Did you check the sensor's connector? Sometimes they get loose or corroded. It's like a loose wire on a lamp - it may work sometimes, sometimes not.

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, I checked the connector, gave it a good clean, and made sure it was properly seated. Still no luck. The hissing is quite loud now, almost constant when the engine's under load. Was your issue definitely the sensor, or something else in the end?

In my case, it turned out to be the sensor connection, but the damage was internal within the connector itself, not visible at first glance. Given that you've already checked the obvious, and the hissing is getting louder, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. A faulty sensor can cause all sorts of problems, like a bad thermometer giving you the wrong temperature, so it’s worth fixing ASAP.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I took it to the workshop today, and you were spot on - the connector was the culprit. They replaced the connector, and all is well now. Repair cost me 95€.
