CrosslandX A/C Failure: DIY Diagnosis & Fix Tips
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Vauxhall CrosslandX is experiencing A/C issues, blowing warm air instead of cooling effectively. The suspected cause is a faulty ambient temperature sensor, potentially due to corroded wiring connections or debris interference. A similar case with a Vauxhall Mokka X revealed that cleaning and repairing the sensor's wiring resolved the issue. The suggested solution is to inspect and fix any wiring or connection problems to restore proper A/C function.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It's really helpful to know that it could be just the wiring and connections causing trouble. Do you remember roughly how much the repair set you back? Also, just curious, have you had any other A/C issues since getting it fixed? Cheers!

Hey again! Happy to update you! After getting it fixed last summer, my A/C has been working perfectly, no issues whatsoever. The repair cost me exactly 95€, which covered fixing the faulty cable connection to the ambient temperature sensor. The mechanic cleaned up all the corrosion and properly sealed everything to prevent future problems. Honestly, it was such a relief to get it sorted, and it was way cheaper than I initially feared! The incorrect temperature readings were really messing with the whole A/C system, but since the repair, it's been spot on. The cooling is consistent now, and I'm not getting any of that unusual warm air blowing anymore. If your issue sounds similar to what I experienced with my Mokka X, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out. These kinds of sensor connection problems are pretty common in Vauxhalls, but they're usually straightforward to fix. Better to sort it now before it potentially causes any bigger headaches! Let me know if you need any other info!

Thanks a lot for all the details! I actually took your advice and got it checked out yesterday. You were right about the connection issues, turns out my problem was pretty similar to yours. The mechanic found some corrosion around the sensor wiring, plus some leaves and dirt had gotten stuck in there. The total bill came to 110€, which included cleaning everything up, replacing a small section of wiring, and giving the whole A/C system a quick check. A bit more than what you paid, but still way better than I was expecting! The best part? The A/C is now blowing properly cold air again. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it gave me the confidence to get it sorted instead of just hoping it would fix itself! Take care!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2016 Vauxhall Mokka X diesel (it's in the same family as your CrosslandX). Last summer, I experienced exactly those symptoms, inconsistent cooling and warm air blowing. Turned out the ambient temperature sensor was indeed the culprit, but it wasn't the sensor itself that was faulty. When I took it to my regular garage, they found that the wiring connection to the sensor had corroded and was making poor contact. There was also some debris around the sensor housing that was interfering with accurate readings. The fix involved cleaning the connections, replacing a small wiring harness, and properly sealing the sensor housing. It wasn't a major repair job, took about an hour to diagnose and fix. These sensors are pretty reliable usually, but their connections can get compromised over time, especially if water gets in there. I'd suggest getting it checked soon though, running the A/C system with faulty sensor readings can potentially cause bigger issues down the line. Hope this helps with your decision!
