Thanks for the reply. No, the car seems to drive normally. Just the light and the smell.

Okay, that's good it's still driving normally. In my case with the Renault, it turned out to be a faulty connection as well. Considering the exhaust leak, and that it is likely a cable or plug connection of the component defective, I would advise getting it checked by a workshop rather than trying to diagnose it yourself. It could save you a lot of time and prevent further damage. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and indeed, it was a faulty connection to the NOx sensor, as suspected. Repair cost was 95€. All sorted now.

Hello! That sounds familiar. I had something similar happen with my old Renault Megane, although it was related to the catalytic converter and air-fuel ratio. The check engine light and the stored error were present, and I was worried about nitrogen oxide levels. Is the car's performance impacted at all?
