An exhaust leak? Interesting idea. I haven't checked the exhaust system specifically. Could something small really cause such big problems, with the light and jerking? Where should I start looking?

It's not obvious, but a leak, especially near the front, can cause problems. The engine management system needs accurate sensor readings, and a leak can throw them off. Best to take it to a workshop; it's hard to find the leak without the right tools. Mine was a cracked manifold, not easy to spot.

Thanks for the advice. I checked and found a leak in the exhaust system. Took it to the workshop, they fixed it. Cost 265€ for parts and labor. Car runs great now, error is gone. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

I had something similar with my 2016 Skoda Octavia. Rough idle, check engine light, the works. I thought fuel pump at first, but did you check for exhaust leaks? Sounds simple, but even a small one can mess with the engine management system. Any weird hissing or puffing sounds, especially when starting or accelerating?
