CrosslandX Overheating Active Air Flap

My 2023 Vauxhall CrosslandX diesel with 59412 km has an issue. The check engine light is on, and it's overheating. Diagnostics point to a fault in the active air flap system, specifically a defective electromechanism. Has anyone had similar thermal management issues with this model?

Active air flap, eh? Check engine light and overheating... sounds nasty! Is the car struggling to reach operating temperature, or is it purely an overheating issue? When did you first notice the check engine light coming on? Was it after a long drive, or just starting up? Also, have you scanned for any fault codes? They'd be a massive help in pinpointing things!

The engine overheating occurs primarily under load, such as during motorway driving. The check engine light appeared with the initial overheating. I retrieved a fault code for an active air flap malfunction. Does your initial assessment remain consistent?

Ah, overheating under load and a confirmed fault code for the active air flap... Yep, sounds like that electromechanism is definitely the culprit. The flaps probably aren't opening when they should, strangling the airflow and causing things to heat up. Honestly, with a fault code and those symptoms, I reckon you're best off getting it to a workshop. Messing with thermal management can be tricky, and you don't want to risk further damage!

I agree. I took it to a qualified technician, who confirmed the defective electromechanism within the active air flap system. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 590€. Thanks for confirming my suspicions and urging me towards a professional resolution.
