CrosslandX Seat Heater Failure

I've got a 2022 Vauxhall CrosslandX, gasoline engine, with about 36000 km on the clock. Recently, the seat heater on the driver's side has stopped working. It doesn't get warm at all, and I've had the error memory read, which shows a fault related to the seat heating. Any ideas what could be the cause?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 308, though it was a diesel. The seat heater just gave up the ghost. Did the error code specify anything in particular, like an open circuit or short to ground? It could be a fuse, but usually, it's the heating element itself in the seat.

Thanks for the quick reply! The error code was pretty generic, something like 'Seat heating element - malfunction'. Didn't give any more detail than that. I checked the fuses already, and they all seem fine. Is it a big job to replace the heating element?

Yeah, that's the same kind of vague error I got. If the fuse is okay, it's almost certainly the heating mat in the seat. Replacing it isn't impossible to do yourself, but honestly, it's a pain. You have to remove the seat, take the seat cover off, and carefully replace the mat without damaging anything. I ended up taking mine to a workshop.

Okay, thanks for the info. Sounds like it's best left to the professionals then. I got a quote from a local garage – about 390€ to replace the seat heating mat. I'll book it in. Appreciate the help!
