I haven't checked the brake switch, and I'm not really sure how. But could a defective electric motor cause all this? And could it be the brake calliper?

A defective electric motor in the brake calliper is a likely cause. I would advise you to visit a qualified workshop for diagnostics. It could save you a lot of headaches. Expect a repair cost in the region of 500€, depending on the workshop's hourly rates.

Thanks a lot for your help! I went to the workshop, and you were right – it was the electric motor in the brake calliper. Repair cost me 505€. All sorted now!

I also drive a Crown, and those symptoms sound familiar. Did the error code point to anything specific? Have you checked the brake switch or any of the brake sensors?
