Crown engine smoke and power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Toyota Crown experienced engine smoke, power loss, and an illuminated check engine light. The issue was suspected to be a defective crankcase ventilation valve, also known as the PCV valve. After investigation, it was confirmed that the crankcase ventilation valve was indeed faulty, and replacing it resolved the problem, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Sticking PCV valve, huh? Where exactly is that located? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

Yes, that's right! It's often located on the valve cover. Given the symptoms, it's likely a defective crankcase ventilation. I would suggest taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for the insight! Ended up being exactly that – the crankcase ventilation valve was busted. Cost me 360€ to get it sorted, but now it runs like new again!

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms – check engine light, rough idle, and smoke – with my old 2012 Audi A4. Turned out to be the PCV valve. Did you check the valve itself? Is it clogged or sticking?
